Raku Pottery – Gary Lee

Class description: We will make beads, pendents and other forms that can be used in jewelry making. Also we will do plant and stamp impressions in slabs to make wall hangings. We will use underglaze for colors, clear and metallic glazes to decorate and then we will fire all work in the Raku kiln.
Gary Lee Bio –
Gary Lee is the owner and resident potter at Rising Sun Pottery in Lincolnton, NC. Rising Sun Pottery is one of the largest clay distributors and equipment dealers in NC. Gary has been a potter for 27 years, having started his clay career in Charlotte, NC at the Clayworks studio where he was a co-op member and instructor for 7 years. Gary Purchased Rising Sun Pottery in 1999 and became a full time potter/business owner in 2000. He teaches workshops primarily at Wildacres Retreat Conference Center in Little Switzerland, NC and in addition manages the pottery studio there during the two Artist Gatherings held each year. Gary also attends workshops taught by national and international potters throughout the year so as to further his working knowledge of pottery.
